40 Things To Do Instead Of Facebook!

I decided the other night that I was tired of Facebook--it just sucks the life out of me at times.  Election drama.  Drama.  Drama.  Friends fighting with one another.  Everybody believing they are an expert.  Everyone talking.  Nobody listening.  People recycling talking points as facts that they haven't even bothered to check--that's the worst as far as I'm concerned.  Dealing with bad facts is something that will drive a historian and researcher like me absolutely nuts.  There's just more downside than upside lately.

Mostly it's the tone that bothers me.  The lack of civility and respect I see on Facebook every day is stunning--I've written about it before.  And it seems to be getting worse.  I really think social media is beginning to impact our society in a very negative way.  So other than my responsibilities to my Masonic Lodge with posting information, I've decided to quit it until after the election--maybe longer.  Done!  Not one dog picture.  Not one comment.  Not one sarcastic meme.  But it will be well worth it if I can go 40 days without having to listen to whining about the election.

I have better and more constructive things to do.  In fact, I thought I'd share some of those things with you over the next 40 days.  I haven't done a daily series in years, but this is just ridiculous enough that it might be fun.  We'll call it "40 Things To Do Instead Of Facebook."

I'll give you a heads up now--I wouldn't take it too seriously  I'm certainly not.
