Taking The High Road

It's not always easy to accomplish, because doing the right thing is very seldom the easiest thing.  It often means pointing out things other people don't want to see.  It often means admitting things you'd rather not acknowledge.  It frequently means having a conversations you'd rather not have.  It may very well mean exposing yourself to criticism.

It's easy to go through life seeing the things that are wrong and doing nothing about them.  It's another thing all together to live your life as part of the solution--that is very hard.  Sometimes in the end, you'll wind up being the hero, but more often than not, you'll get more grief than credit.

But I have gotten to the point where I'm old enough to be able and look back and realize that it isn't the things I've done in the past that I regret--it's the things I didn't do that I regret.  And you know what?  It's well worth taking a little heat, and a little criticism if your heart is in the right place, and you're motives are pure.

It's amazing what can be accomplished if you're willing to get in there and become part of the solution instead of part of the problem.  And part of the problem is there aren't enough people with the guts to stand up and do something to solve the problems in the world today.
